Setting Up a Legacy User

How to ensure your accounts live on after you.

Updated over a month ago

With Foundation, you have the choice to add a Legacy User. A Legacy User is someone you designate to gain access to your account in the event something were to happen to you. As the account owner you will set a specified period of time, where if you don't login, your account will pass over to your Legacy User. Follow the steps below to nominate and onboard your Legacy User.

1. Nominate Your Legacy User

  1. In the Foundation app, navigate to the Legacy screen.

  2. Tap Add a Legacy User.

  3. When the pop-up appears, either send the invitation link directly to your chosen contact or copy the link to share manually.

  4. You’ll see the Legacy User listed as “Invited”.

2. Legacy User Onboarding

Once you’ve sent the invite, your Legacy User will receive a notification with a link. Your Legacy User will need to complete these next steps:

  1. Open the invitation link on their mobile device.

  2. Download the Foundation app if it’s not already installed.

  3. Accept the invitation when prompted to become the Legacy User for your account.

3. Set the Inactivity Period

After your Legacy User accepts the invitation, return to your Legacy screen. To finalize the Legacy user complete the following:

  1. Select the inactivity period (for example, 30, 60, or 90 days) after which the Legacy User will assume account access.

  2. Confirm your selection—your Legacy User setup is now complete.
